The Ninjato was a formidable weapon in feudal Japan. Used by the Shinobi (otherwise known as ninjas), the sleek, deadly blade was usually carried across the back of the warrior - around their waist. The Ninjato also has other names, known as the Ninjaken or Shinobigatana.
The Ninjato has also found its place in modern times and popular culture, thanks to the likes of contemporary ninjutsu practitioners such as Masaaki Hatsumi and Stephen K. Hayes. You can find accurate and authentic replicas of this type of weapon at various museums, including he Ninja Museum of Igaryu (opened in the 1960s), the Koka Ninja Village Museum, and the Gifu Castle Archives Museum in Japan.
Here at Samurai Sword Store, our hand-forged version is a testament to our attention to detail and love of traditional craftsmanship. It features a spring steel blade, which gives it the resilience this type of sword is famous for. With a full tang design that's been hand-sharpened for a razor edge, this sword doesn't just make a beautiful addition to your collection - it's also ready for battle.
The tsuba, also known as a handguard, is made from iron, which gives the weapon more of an authentic touch. It also features a faux leather handle in black and a black ray-skin wrap - meaning you get a secure grip when wielding.
Paired with a sleek black scabbard (or saya), you can store and transport your new blade in style.
