Experience Tachi Sword Designs That Honor Traditional Craftsmanship

The tachi sword is a masterpiece of a weapon, steeped in history and designed with precision and care. Unlike the famous katana, the tachi sword is characterised by a more pronounced curve, which is what once made it the weapon of choice for mounted combat.

To make our tachi scords, we use traditional techniques, which include folding and tempering high-quality steel. It’s our meticulous process that ensures a sturdy and durable piece that will last for decades to come.

We make each tachi to reflect the heritage of samurai craftsmanship with exquisite detailing that will take any collector’s breath away. It’s not just the sword we craft – experience masterful craftsmanship with the tsuba (handguard), the tsuka (handle), and other elements of our tachi swords.

Our Tachi Swords: Exceptional Quality With Every Sweep

  • Handcrafted From Premium Steel: Our Tachi swords are hand-forged using traditional sword-making techniques that have been passed down through generations. Because of this, every blade we make is a detailed representation of the craftsmanship seen in Japanese sword-making culture, resulting in an authentic and durable weapon.
  • Real Hamon Clay-Tempered Blades: Each Tachi sword in our collection features a real Hamon – a wavy pattern created through tempering. The Hamon makes the sword even more eye-catching and gives it the extra strength it needs.
  • Ready For Battle: We expertly craft each tachi so it’s ready for competitions, martial arts, and practice.

The History Behind the Tachi Sword

The Tachi sword was once a weapon for mounted samurai. It‘s easily recognizable by its long, curved blades and refined craftsmanship. Originating from the feudal era, it’s a symbol of the prestige of the samurai, designed for mounted warriors.

Its longer design, relative to a katana, makes the tachi a great weapon for powerful strikes while on horseback.

Our Tachis are designed to replicate the remarkable piece of history this sword holds. They're a perfect reflection of tradition and art, offering beauty and practicality that’s fantastic for any collection.

FAQs About Tachi Swords

What is the Difference Between a Tachi and a Katana?

The two swords appear similar at first glance, but the design, function, and historical uses are different.

The tachi is typically longer than the katana and has a more pronounced, curved blade. This makes it ideal for swift strikes from horseback. Traditionally, this sword was worn edge-down. Sometimes, the tachi came in more elaborate designs because while it was a weapon used in battle, it was also a symbol of status among high-ranking samurai.

By comparison, the Katana was designed for foot soldiers and was worn edge-up. This made it much easier and quicker to draw.

Are Tachi Swords Functional or Purely Decorative?

Our Tachi swords are versatile enough to suit your interests. They’re fully functional, crafted using traditional forging techniques. If you’re interested in martial arts, they’re the perfect practice piece. Our tachi are also detailed and striking enough to make an eye-catching display.

How Do I Sharpen My Tachi?

A fine-grit whetstone is the most effective way to sharpen your tachi. Work the sword at a consistent angle to maintain the blade.

However, sharpening and polishing this type of sword can be a delicate process. If your tachi needs sharpening, we recommend taking it to a reputable professional who can care for your sword without damaging it.
